Each year, the Silver City Regional Association of REALTORS® recognizes a top real estate leader who has proven they are more than “just a REALTOR®”. Candidates for the local REALTOR® of the Year (ROTY) are members who have placed high professional principles, community participation, and local, state, and national association involvement at the top of their “to do” list. The 2009 REALTOR of the YEAR is Dawn Holladay.  Dawn is an Associate Broker for Prudential Silver City Properties and has worked as a real estate licensee and REALTOR since April of 2004.  She began serving on the Silver City Regional MLS Board of Directors in 2006 and has held nearly every position since, including President in 2007.  2010 will be the first year that Dawn has not served our MLS.  Dawn’s local volunteerism spirit shines through in her dedication to the Tyrone Volunteer Fire and Rescue as she serves as the EMS Coordinator, EMT Basic – responding to 911 calls, public education,  TVFD personnel education and training, Fire Fighter - responding to and assisting with fire suppression, Auxiliary - assisting with fundraising and REHAB – assisting with physical training exercises.  Dawn also received the EMT-B of the Year Award in 2009.  Dawn uses the “Golden Rule” as the bottom line in her real estate business; it’s not just a standard practice it is a way of life!  Dawn says, “of all the jobs I have had in my life, I can honestly say that I feel extremely grateful to be working at a place that I look forward to coming to each and every morning, as well as, enjoying those I work with.”

For the first time the Association also awarded an Honorary ROTY award. Marilyn Ransom was chosen as an Honorary recipient of the 2009 Realtor of the Year.  Marilyn’s business motto best described her way of business, “Meeting your needs, exceeding your expectations.”  She tried to go above and beyond by demonstrating professionalism in all her transactions.  She frequently Attended association luncheons and MLS Tours and coordinated a workday for the Association and Habitat for Humanity.  Her community passions and time was given to the Grant County Habitat for Humanity,  High Desert Humane Society and raising money for cancer research as well as walking for leukemia. She has been and will continue to be missed by her Realtor community.
