Local REALTORS attend New Mexico Housing Summit

Pat Fell, Debbie Rogers, Dana Carlsen, Cassie Carver and Kim Clark of the Silver City Regional Association of REALTORS® attended the 2016 New Mexico Housing Summit in Albuquerque in September.

The annual Housing Summit sponsored by the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority brought together over 400 members of the housing community from around the state, including REALTORS®, local business leaders and elected officials, to learn and discuss the latest and future developments in the housing industry.

Members of the REALTORS® Association of New Mexico held their Fall meetings in conjunction with the Summit. These meetings included the Board of Directors meeting, RPAC Trustees Committee meeting, District Caucuses and the ever popular Legal Update. Pat Fell lead the event as the 2016 RANM President. Debbie Rogers serves as the Legislative Committee Chair, Kim Clark serves as an RPAC Trustee and as a member of the AE Committee, Dana Carlsen is a member of the Board Presidents Council and Cassie Carver serves as a director on the REALTORS® Association of New Mexico Board of Directors.

Keynote speakers for the Housing Summit included Elliot Eisenberg with an informative presentation that made economics fun and relevant. In his "Flat is the New Up" presentation he spoke about future GDP growth, how labor markets and wages will do, what path interest rates are likely to follow and -- most importantly -- how the housing sector will perform. Bill McGowan, media coach to celebrities and entrepreneurs alike, showed attendees how to communicate in a way that gets the personal and professional results they want. Colonel Mike Mullane provided an inspirational, motivational and humorous description of the astronaut experience that emphasized the importance of teamwork and leadership.

Also in attendance from Silver City were Priscilla Lucero of the SW Council of Governments, Priscilla Arredondo from the Town of Silver City, Cathy DeMarco and Sonia Flores of the Region V Housing Authority.
