Celebrating Charter Day

We are pleased to commemorate our association's charter day today, paying tribute to the foresight, commitment, and diligence that established our vibrant REALTOR® organization.

The original Board application submitted to the National Association of Real Estate Boards (referred to as the National Association) on November 2, 1951, requested the formation of a new Board, agreeing to use the term "REALTOR®" and designating Grant County, New Mexico, as its jurisdiction with six founding members. Previously, Grant County fell under the jurisdiction of the Las Cruces Board, which willingly waived their oversight of REALTORS® in Silver City. The application received an endorsement from the President of the New Mexico Association of Real Estate Boards (State Association).

Mattye M. Davis served as the first president of the newly established Grant County Board of REALTORS® from 1952 to 1953.

Several subsequent applications to change the organization’s name or jurisdiction were submitted and approved by the NAR Board of Directors.
