Now Is the Time to Complete Your Ethics Training Requirement

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) requires all REALTOR® and Appraiser members to complete Code of Ethics training every three years as part of their membership. The current period for fulfilling this requirement is known as Cycle 7.

The current three year period in which all REALTOR® members must complete a Code of Ethics training, approved by their Local Association, began January 1, 2022 and will end on December 31, 2024.

A local association is authorized by NAR to determine which Code of Ethics training programs it will accept as meeting the learning objectives established by NAR. The local association has responsibility for recording and transmitting all Code of Ethics training records for primary members to the NAR. Per NAR directive, the local association must suspend any member who does not meet the Code of Ethics training requirement within the current biennial period. Read the consequences for failing to complete Code of Ethics training.

  • All new members joining the Silver City Regional Association of REALTORS® are required to complete the NAR new member training as part of their new member orientation. This will be recorded in your membership record with NAR.

  • All existing members are required to complete an approved SCRAR course that meets the NAR Code of Ethics Training Requirements. Remember, only your local association has the authority to determine which classes meet the requirement.

Currently, our approved courses are ones that are sponsored by the association either in person or via Zoom, the Ethical Excellence: Raising the Bar course provided by The CE Shop, and the NAR Existing Member course or the NAR Commitment to Excellence endorsement. These two NAR courses do not have state CE credits. Note: additional courses may be approved by SCRAR, only if guidance is asked for prior to taking the course, as not all ethics courses meet the NAR training requirements.

If you are a primary member of SCRAR and complete a sponsored course, your training record will automatically be entered into the NAR membership database. If you complete your training through the CE Shop you will need to forward the course certificate to SCRAR so that your membership record can be updated. If you take NAR's online course or C2EX your membership record will be automatically updated.

As always, you can reach out to SCRAR if you have any questions.
