Southwest New Mexico Region Water Planning Meeting July 23

This spring and summer the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission’s (NMISC) planning team is hosting a statewide series of open houses to listen and learn from communities across New Mexico. Your voice is important and needed. These open houses will help establish a roadmap for the future of water planning in our state. 


July 23, 20024 - This open house for the Southwest New Mexico Region will be held in Silver City, New Mexico, and will help establish a roadmap for the future of water planning in our state. Your voice is important. Help plan and take action for New Mexico’s water future. Doors open at 3pm. Drop in anytime between 3-7pm to share your perspectives on water planning. Registration is encouraged but entirely optional.

Water shortages in New Mexico, spurred by climate change, are a pressing challenge; stream flows and groundwater levels are decreasing, while water usage continues to rise. New Mexico is acting now to secure its water for the future through the Water Security Planning Act.
