The Silver City Regional Association of REALTORS® has awarded two higher education scholarships this year. The association solicits application submissions annually from students who are members of an affiliate member's or REALTOR's immediate family. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or above overall, be enrolled full-time in higher education, including trade school, and submit an essay about an ideal community.
Diego Morales is a full-time student at Western New Mexico University working towards a bachelor's degree. He is on the President’s and Dean’s list at WNMU. He is the nephew of Jessica Ybarra, a REALTOR® at Wagon Wheel Realty in Silver City. Diego’s essay states that an ideal community is built around safety. A place where there is quality healthcare, law enforcement who serve with integrity, and an education system that is at the top in quality. He stated, “In this ideal community we would love one another as humans should and treat everyone with dignity and respect.”
Brooke Huerta is the niece of Ruth Stallard a REALTOR® at United Country Real Estate Downtown, in Deming. She attends Western New Mexico University as a Junior. She is enrolled as a full-time online student and is working toward her goal of earning her degree and beginning her career as an occupational therapist. Brook has volunteered with Toss No Mas, Imagination Library, and The Well Food Pantry in Deming. “An ideal community is grateful for the small businesses and the individuals in charge that help shape the town or city,” Brooke stated in her essay. Her vision of an ideal community is a group of people that know one another and tries its very best to treat neighbors with kindness and compassion.
REALTORS® appreciate the significance of personal involvement and commitment in the local community. We are proud to be able to assist students in reaching their educational goals as part of our REALTOR® family scholarship program.
